This page contains a segment for each of the places we stayed at on our way to the Derby before commencing our journey down the Gibb River Road.
Dampier
We had missed the email letting us know there was a public holiday and long weekend in the Karratha and Port Headland area so finding somewhere to pull up for the night was difficult. In the end we found a small caravan park in Dampier to spend the night. The locals pointed us in the direction of a club for an evening meal so in the end all was good.

Cape Keraudren
Because we were travelling with a small dog we were not allowed in the 80 Mile Beach Caravan Park so we turned off just near to the Pardoo Roadhouse and followed the track down to the beach at a place called Cape Keraudren where we found all the locals who had headed out camping for the long weekend.

Broome
We have spent time in Broome a number of times before making this trip. As always we love the weather here and it is a nice place to stay. We were a little disappointed that the foreshore area facilities at Cable Beach were being rebuilt and the restaurant we normally went to had been levelled. I suppose you cannot stop progress.

Derby
Although we had been through this area a number of times in the past, we had never been to Derby. We found it to be a nice stop, clean with everything we needed and a good Information Centre. The police were also friendly. If you are interested in history you will find the Prison Boab Tree just out of town worth visiting.
